MSI MegaBook S260

This laptop is a Centrino cousin of the S270 model. It's available in the same white, silver or black color. It comes equipped with Pentium M processor, Intel 915 chipset and Intel 2200 wireless card. Additionally you can get it with bluetooth and O2Micro SD/MMC card reader.

User Experiences

This laptop works without any problems under linux. All components are fully supported and most of them work correctly out of the box in recent distributions like Ubuntu Feisty. That is including:

• graphics with proper resolution, 3D acceleration, brightness adjusting and external vga
• sound with spdif output
• network connectivity via ethernet, wifi and modem
• bluetooth
• SD/MMC card reader
• touchpad with all fancy features
• power management including suspending & hibernation
• all extra Fn keybindings
• and so on..

No stability issues encountered.

Special Feature Drivers

This model is partialy supported by the userspace MSI Laptop driver. LCD brightness can be adjusted.

Hardware Issues

• if equipped with Philips DVD+/-RW SDVD8441, requires drive firmware update otherwise burning is painfully slow
• can be noisy, embedded controller upgrade to 5.2 firmware version is needed
